
Emam Ali Habibi (born on May 27, 1931, in the village of Darzikola,
Babol), is one of the famous freestyle wrestlers of Iran and the world and is
known as the Tiger of Mazandaran. Emam Ali Habibi won the 1956 Melbourne
Olympic gold medal and three gold medals at the 1959 World Championships in
Tehran, Yokohama 1961 and Toledo 1962 and had won the gold medal at the 1958
Tokyo Asian Games. Emam Ali Habibi is one of four Iranian wrestlers (along with
Gholamreza Takhti and Rasoul Khadem and Ebrahim Javadi) whose name and image
have been registered in the Fila Hall of Fame.
