Before the official meeting of the Central Asian and West Asian Olympic Committees began, a memorandum of understanding on sports cooperation was signed between the National Olympic Committees of Iran and Tajikistan.
Iran NOC; Tehran: Signing of the
memorandum of understanding was taken place by Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, President
of the National Olympic Committee, Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, Secretary General, Iranian
Ambassador Alireza Haghighian, and officials of the Olympic Committee and the
Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Tajikistan. The parties emphasized on the
expansion of sports communications and relations between the two countries. Finally,
the memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr. Mahdi Alinejad, Secretary
General of the National Olympic Committee, and Zulfikar Gul Ahmadzadeh, Vice-President
of the National Olympic Committee and Minister of Sports of Tajikistan.
The most important provisions of
the above-mentioned sports cooperation agreement include utilizing the sports
capacities of the two countries, exchanging coaches, holding joint camps, participating
in mutual tournaments, holding training courses, and utilizing the potential of
each other's medal-winning disciplines. Emomali Rahmon, the President of
Tajikistan, is also the President of the National Olympic Committee of the
country.
