Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, President of the National Olympic Committee has travelled to Tajikistan to participate in the meeting of Central Asia Zone countries.
Iran NOC; Tehran: Upon arrival, the
NOC President was welcomed by the Iranian ambassador and his Tajik counterpart,
and then participated in the Norouz celebration, which was held at the Tajikistan
National Olympic Committee at the initiative of Zulfikar Gul Ahmadzadeh, Chief
of the Committee for Work with Youth and Sports of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The ceremony, which was attended
by Alireza Haghighian, the Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan, and Jamshid Juma
Khanzadeh, the Chair of the Tourism Development Committee of the Republic of
Tajikistan, the shared historical and cultural heritage of the two countries were
highlighted and the expansion of relations in all areas, especially in
championship sports was emphasized.
The National Olympic Committees
of Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and
Afghanistan are members of Central Asia and hold annual meetings to further
coordinate regional and national interactions in sports.
