During World Cross-Country Skiing Championships with the presence of Iranian representatives in Norway, two valuable quotas for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games were secured.
Iran NOC; Tehran: At the end of
the women's 7.5 km preliminary competition, Samaneh Beyrami Baher came in 11th
place and managed to secure a quota for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Sahel Tir
came in 42nd, while Farnoosh Shemsheki and Atefeh Salehi stood in 49th and 50th
places, respectively. Also, in the men's 7.5 km preliminary section, Danial
Saveh Shemsheki was placed 33rd, Mehdi Tir 36th, and Seyed Ahmadreza Seyd and
Alireza Moghdid were ranked 48th and 51st, respectively. All four Iranian male
skiers qualified for the Olympic quota, one of whom will be sent to the 2026
Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, at the discretion of the national federation.
