In a friendly meeting, Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa hosted a meeting with CISM (International Military Sports Council) Secretary-General and his delegation.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The meeting was
attended by Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, the NOC President, General Fooladi, Head
of the Physical Education Organization of the Iranian Armed Forces and Head of
the Iranian delegation to the CISM, Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, CISM Secretary
General from Italy, Colonel Joseph Bacari, Head of the CISM Games Department
from Tanzania, Colonel Shabir Al-Najm, Member of the CISM Board Member from
Pakistan, Colonel Saif Al-Marri, Liaison for the Asian continent at the CISM
from Qatar, Colonel Reza Bagheri, Director of the CISM Games from Iran, along
with the NOC directors.
At the beginning of this meeting,
while thanking and appreciating General Fooladi and welcoming the delegation,
Mr. Khosravi Vafa, stated: “Military figures are popular in our country, and General
Fooladi enjoys a very acceptable position due to his valuable services to the
sports community, especially in the military section. The representative of the
military forces' sports is a voting member of the National Olympic Committee's
General Assembly due to his status and importance in our country. I know the
International Military Sports Council of the World, known as CISM, well because
I have been both an athlete and part of military. Therefore, I feel close to
you, I believe that the people who are present in CISM have sports mixed with
their lives and their jobs are also tied to sports”.
In the following, Colonel Roberto
Recchia, CISM Secretary General thanked the National Olympic Committee of Iran
for hosting him and introduced his delegation, stating: The CISM headquarters
is in Brussels, Belgium, where various members from 5 continents are present. I
thank you for your kind words and literature, and I believe that sports are an
important part and principle in the military area and will be very effective in
the growth and formation of individuals' personalities. The Iranian delegation
has a very good participation in the CISM programs, and this indicates that
there is a good relationship in between. I hope that this cooperation will
become closer day by day and will bring about a bilateral situation for sports
and the military sector”. He also highlighted that there is a positive
collaboration within CISM and IOC. General Fooladi, head of the Armed Forces
Physical Education Department, thanked the NOC President for the meeting and
mentioned Khosravi Vafa as one of the best and most skilled sports managers in
the country, who has both a championship and military background. He added that
154 medals were won by military forces in the countries at the Paris Olympics,
which is more than the previous Olympics and clearly shows the growth of sports
