The first meeting of the Higher Anti-Doping Council was held at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, with the presence of Dr. Donyamali, the NOC President, Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, and a group of deputies and managers.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The Minister of
Sports and Youth held: "One of our policies in the Higher Anti-Doping
Council should be to strengthen our position in the World Anti-Doping Agency
(WADA) and other international organizations affiliated to this
institution." The Iran Anti-Doping Organization (NADO), based on the
necessity and need of the country's sports, in line with the tasks and
frameworks set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), formed the Higher
Anti-Doping Council for the first time, while its regulations were approved a
decade ago, but no serious steps had been taken to launch it during these
years.
In this meeting, Ahmad Donyamali,
Minister of Sports and Youth, considered the issue of doping and its negative
and destructive consequences on the sports body to be important, and placed the
serious activity of this council at the top of the ministry's programs. This
council, like the National Anti-Doping Organization, will be active under the
supervision of the Ministry of Sports and Youth. The purpose of forming such a
council is to create a cultural platform and expand the scientific awareness of
the society in order to prevent this reprehensible phenomenon, to fight it fundamentally
and in principle to coordinate with international organizations and institutions
related to this area, especially WADA.
