Coordination meeting for the ceremony titled “Honoring Influential Figures in Women's Sports” of the past century was held at the National Olympic Committee, with the presence of the President, Vice President, Secretary General, and experts in this field.
Iran NOC; Tehran: At the
beginning of the meeting, Mahin Farhadizad, Vice President of the National
Olympic Committee, mentioned the goals of holding the ceremony, which will
promote gender equality and increase women's participation at management
levels, and added: "Celebrating influential women in sports will lead to
increased motivation and self-confidence of athletes, increases financial and
media support, and improves structure and more facilities for women." Referring
to the first ceremony to celebrate influential women in sports last year and
its effective role in various dimensions for influential women in the growth of
women's sports, Farhadizad declared such conferences as valuable.
In the following, Mahmoud Khosravi
Vafa, the President of the National Olympic Committee, thanked the guests for
attending the meeting, pointed out the influential role of such conferences in
the growing trend of championship sports, and discussed the impact of
celebrating women in broader dimensions, adding: “The importance of paying
attention to prominent individuals in women's sports should not be limited to
the post-revolutionary era, all athletes and managers who were influential in
the growth and development of women's sports in the past and present should be
taken into account”. Khosravi Vafa continued by appreciating the efforts of the
Women's Commission in holding the first ceremony to honor influential figures
in women's sports, emphasized on the participation of the Deputy for Women's
Sports Development of the Ministry of Sports, the Deputy for Women's Sports of
the Municipality, and all other organization that can be effective in
implementing the ceremony as effectively as possible.
