The 13th General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association was held in Tirana, Albania, with the presence of Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, the Iranian NOC President.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The 13th
General Assembly of the Islamic Sports Solidarity Association was held in
Tirana, Albania, with the presence of Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, President of the
National Olympic Committee, representatives of the Organization of Islamic
Cooperation (OIC), the Minister of Sports and President of the Olympic
Committee of Albania, and representatives of 53 member countries, chaired by
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal. At the beginning of the General Assembly,
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the ISSA President, stressed the need for
unity among Islamic countries in the framework of strategic plans. He also
appreciated the performance of the National Olympic Committees in the Paris
Olympic Games and the brilliant results achieved by Muslim countries.
Referring to the new programs of
the Islamic Solidarity Association, the ISSA President emphasized on the
necessity of utilizing the potential of youth and women in line with the
principles of Olympic solidarity. At the top of the agenda of this meeting,
amendments to the statutes, the charter of the executive board of the
association, the initial program of the Islamic Games in Riyadh 2025 and the
four-year program and new strategies of the association, as well as the date
and location of the next General Assembly were approved. It was also decided
that Riyadh would host the next General Assembly, considering the hosting of
the Islamic Solidarity Games.
