The 53rd General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee was held in the presence of the Minister of Sports and Youth, the President of the National Olympic Committee, and members of the assembly at the Paralympic Hall of the National Olympic Committee.
Iran NOC, Tehran: The General
Assembly of the National Olympic Committee began with eight agendas, the most
important of which were determining policies related to the Nagoya 2026 Asian
Games and creating a suitable platform for athletes to obtain quotas for the
Los Angeles Olympic Games. Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, the President of the
National Olympic Committee, highlighted that they wanted to remember the past
by broadcasting a clip and said: "The wheel of sports is on the shoulders
of those who are not seen. Like families, and the result of all this
companionship creates national pride."
Dr. Seyed Manaf Hashemi, the
Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, continued: "God
willing, after the presence of the new team in the National Olympic Committee,
we continued the path of previous friends. In current year, we had an executive
board meeting according to the approved plan. The executive board meeting was
held every two weeks. Our main project in current year was the Hangzhou Asian
Games, and then we prepared ourselves for the Paris Olympics. We had 50
meetings with the officials of the national federations. We also held meetings
with the Ministry of Sports”.
Honoring veterans was part of
National Olympic Committee’s assembly, which was held for the first time. In
this section, Taghi Asgari, the silver medalist in diving at the 1951 Asian
Games in New Delhi, and Nasser Azimi, a football veteran, were honored. In the
final section of the assembly, Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali referred to the NOC’s
action to a clip of the deceased and stated: "It is true that we are
saddened, but it was a reminder not to let negligence and forgetfulness take
hold of us. You are all aware of the events, the Tashkent Asian Youth Games
will be held in the upcoming year in Bahrain. We support anyone who helps a
discipline anywhere. Today's sports community has the capacity and ability to
do outstanding work at the Los Angeles Olympics. We must feel responsible for
athletes, they are the wealth of the country, we should not let them be easily
lost. We will be particularly strict about doping, there are programs in the Sports
Medicine”.
