The Executive Board meeting of Olympic Council of Asia was held online and Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, the NOC President and the Member of Executive Board participated in the meeting.
Iran NOC; Tehran: One of the most
important decisions of this meeting was the transfer of the host city of the
Asian Youth Games from Tashkent, Uzbekistan to Bahrain. In this online meeting,
Uzbekistan announced in an official correspondence to the OCA that it was
unable to host the above-mentioned games on time, citing the contractor's
inability to deliver the venues on time. In light of the Olympic Council of
Asia’s adherence to holding the Games on time, the members of the Executive
Board of the Olympic Council of Asia and the directors of its committees, while
appreciating the officials of Uzbekistan, decided to change the venue of the
Games, and Bahrain announced its full readiness to hold these Games in 2025. At
the end of the above meeting, while approving the transfer of the host of the
Asian Youth Games in 2025 from Tashkent to Bahrain, it was also decided that
the necessary Olympic disciplines would be present in the Asian Youth Games in
order to prevent the unnecessary increase and multiplicity of various sports
disciplines.
