The 2nd National Sport & Environment Conference was held in Farsi the hall of the National Olympic Academy with the presence of speakers and participants.
Iran NOC; Tehran: Before the
start of this conference, while pointing out the role of Dr. Farhadizad, the
NOC Vice-President, who is in charge of leading the 17 commissions of the
National Olympic Committee Dr. Seyed Manaf Hashemi, Secretary General of the
National Olympic Committee expressed gratitude to the organizers of this
conference in the Sports and Environment Commission of the National Olympic
Committee.
Dr. Hashemi, stating the reason
for his presence in this conference, in addition to evaluating and monitoring
the commissions, announced the full support of the National Olympic Committee
for the holding and continuation of such conferences, and held: “Sports and
Environment Commission as one of the active NOC commissions, in addition to
educational activities has performed good and commendable practical actions in
the past two years. We have to accept that there is little will and seriousness
at the community level regarding the important issue of the environment. Every
year, we witness many scientific conferences around the world regarding the
importance of the environment, but unfortunately, we see that nothing special
happens in the discussion of the operationalization of these scientific
conferences”. The NOC Secretary General further pointed to the positive
measures taken in some developed countries regarding the environment and while highlighting
that no one can live in a society and be indifferent to environmental issues, stated:
“Setting an example like major athletes and involving our 54 sports federations
to expand this discussion is one of the duties of the Sports and Environment
Commission. We must do better in the field of advertising and especially media,
because experience has shown that virtual space has a significant effect on
building culture and accompanying people to overcome environmental crises”.
After the end of the conference,
two educational workshops were held, which received a considering welcome from
those interested in the topic of environment. Sound level measurement in office
and sports environments and health safety risk assessment as well as waste
management in sports complexes were the titles of the two mentioned workshops.
