Following the 44th assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, which was held at Barat Mandapam in New Delhi, Raja Randhir Singh, who was the only candidate for the position of OCA President, was elected as by 44 votes.
Iran NOC; Tehran: 77-year-old Raja Randhir Singh was elected as the president
of the Olympic Council of Asia for a tenure of four years securing 44 out of 45
votes. It was in July 2023 when the Olympic Council of Asia election was held
in Bangkok, Thailand, and Sheikh Talal Al-Fahd and Hossein Al-Mussalam both
from Kuwait were candidates for the presidency of the OCA. Finally, Sheikh
Talal was elected as the new president of the Olympic Council of Asia by 24
votes, and Hossein Al-Mussalam also gaining 20 votes came in the second place,
but after a while, the IOC entered the Asian Olympic Council election and did
not accept the results and voted to hold it again. Asian Olympic Council now can
continue its activities under the leadership of Raja Randhir Singh, who finally
was elected as the only candidate for the position of President of the OCA for
a four-year term.
