Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, President of the National Olympic Committee, and Seyed Manaf Hashemi, the Secretary-General and Chef de Mission to Paris 2024, met and talked with Prince Abdul Aziz bin Turki bin Faisal Al Saud, the President of the Saudi National Olympic Committee.
Iran NOC; Tehran: In this
official meeting that took place on the sidelines of the 2024 Paris Olympic
Games, the NOC President congratulated his Saudi counterpart for the successful
holding of numerous sports events in recent years, as well as hosting of the
2029 Asian Winter Games and the first edition of the 2025 E-Sports Olympic
Games. Referring to the deep relations between the two Muslim countries in the
regional, social, and cultural fields, as well as the existing capacities in
various sports sectors, Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa emphasized on strengthening the
bilateral relations between the National Olympic Committees. The NOC President,
while announcing Iran's readiness to host the General Assembly of the Islamic
Countries Solidarity Sports Federation, stated: “Considering the 6th edition of
the 2025 Islamic Games in Saudi Arabia, we are ready to work with the Islamic
Countries Solidarity Games Federation, which is headed by Prince Abdul Aziz to
have a closer cooperation, which part of this cooperation can be in the form of
hosting training courses and preparatory camps for sports teams of developing
Muslim countries”.
In addition, Prince Abdulaziz, President
of the Saudi National Olympic Committee, while thanking and congratulating the
Iranian sports community for winning valuable medals in Taekwondo and Wrestling,
held: “Although Saudi Arabia has made significant progress in hosting and
developing infrastructure in recent years, but in communication with improving
the technical level of athletes in the field of championship requires close
cooperation and support of the National Olympic Committee of Iran”. While
confirming the speech of the President of the National Olympic Committee of
Iran, he stressed on deepening of the sports relations between the two
countries in various fields and said that this will lead to the growth and
improvement of the sports of the two Islamic countries. In the end, the he
expressed his condolences for the tragic accident of the helicopter crash of
martyr Ibrahim Raisi and wished success to the elected President, Dr. Masoud
Pezeshkian.
