Injured Shoulder Not Blocking Champion’s Olympic Medal
Hassan Yazdani, the Iranian Freestyle National Wrestler left the final game to his Bulgarian opponent due to a badly injured shoulder and ceased to silver medal of Paris 2024.

Iran NOC; Tehran: The final competitions and classification of the first 2 weights of the freestyle wrestling competitions of the Paris Olympic Games began in local time, when Hassan Yazdani, representing Iran in the 86 kg, won the silver medal after losing in the final.

In 86 kg, where 16 wrestlers participated, Hasan Yazdani won the first match by 10:0 against Alexander Lawrence from Australia. In the next match, he passed Davern Kuraglif, the Russian-origin European champion from Greece, by of 9-4 and made his way to the quarter finals. At this stage, Yazdani won 7-1 against Myles Amine, the world and Olympic bronze medalist from San Marino, and became a finalist. To win the gold medal, Yazdani faced with Magomed Ramzanov from Bulgaria, where Yazdani stopped the match several times due to his shoulder injury but continued to fight hard, and finally lost by 7-1 and settled for the silver medal.
