Behdad Salimi, the Iranian former Olympic medalist in Weightlifting was nominated for the Athletes Commission of the International Weightlifting Federation.
Iran NOC; Tehran: Behdad Salimi, currently
a member of the Athletes' Commission and a member of the Executive Board of the
National Olympic Committee of Iran, was selected as Iran's representative to
participate in the elections of the Athletes' Commission of the International
Weightlifting Federation by the decision of the President and Board Members Weightlifting
Federation. The elections will be held during the Colombia World Championships
in December, and only the athletes participating in these competitions will have
the right to vote.
The IWF Athletes' Commission is
one of the most important commissions of this IF, because three members will
have an effective presence in the major decisions of this sport. The commission
will also have three voting members at the IWF Congress. According to the
regulations of the Athletes Commission, one woman and one man from each
continent will be members of this commission.
The International Weightlifting
Federation is going to hold the elections of the Athletes' Commission for the
first time, which will be held simultaneously with the world championships in
December in Colombia.
