The Iranian Weightlifting Oral History project was followed by a conversation between Reza Pourali, the project manager with two Iranian Weightlifting champions and veterans, Ghassem Ghazalian, a Weightlifting talent coach, and Kourosh Bagheri, a world champion and Olympic record holder.
Iran NOC; Tehran: Ghazalian, born
in 1937, is currently the oldest Weightlifting talent trainer, who shows his
indefatigability and motivation even at the age of 84. At this age, he opens
the door of the Ghaemshahr Weightlifting hall earlier every day than his
students to cultivate the teenage talents of that city and the surrounding
cities. Qassem Ghazalian has delivered many students to the Weightlifting
community during these years, the most famous of whom are his son Fereydoun
Ghazalian (former Asian champion), Behdad Salimi (world and Olympic champion),
Alireza Yousefi (youth Olympic champion) and Ayat Sharifi (Asian youth
champion). Kourosh Bagheri, born in 1977 in Kermanshah, is considered one of
the key men of the golden generation of Weightlifting in the country.
Reza Pourali, the presenter of
the Iranian Weightlifting Oral History Project, began his conversation with
Kourosh Bagheri from the childhood, adolescence and youth of this former Weightlifting
champion and veteran of Iran, and continued until 2018, when he participated in
the weightlifting federation elections for the second time.
