-In these competitions, Kimia Alizadeh was able to win the first Olympic medal in the history of women's sports in Iran and also won a medal in women's Taekwondo. Hassan Taftian managed to reach the semi-finals of the 100 meters for the first time and Jafar Moradi crossed the finish line of Marathons. In Sabre Fencing, Mojtabi Abedini went all the way to winning a medal, and in the end he finished fourth. This was the first time that fencing from Iran had managed to reach such an Olympic level. Shooting also had two finalists for the first time in the Rio 2016 Games, and in the end, Elahe Ahmadi and Najmeh Khemati finished sixth and eighth respectively. Volleyball, which had received an Olympic quota for the first time, was eliminated from the competition in the quarter-finals.

Result: 27th by winning 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals: In this edition of the games, for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, Karate was added to the list of disciplines due to the hosting of Japan, and the Iranian representative, Sajjad Ganjzadeh, won a historic gold medal in this discipline. Javad Foroughi won the first gold medal in the history of our country's Shooting, which was accompanied by breaking the world record in the Tokyo Olympics. Nazanin Malaei was the first rower to reach the finals of the Rowing competition. Javad Foroughi in air pistol, Sajjad Ganjzadeh in Karate and Mohammad Reza Garaei in Wrestling were the three gold medalists of Iranian delegation. Ali Davoudi in Weightlifting and Hassan Yazdani won silver medals in Freestyle Wrestling. Amir Hossein Zare in and Mohammad Ali Saravi Freestyle Wrestling also won 2 bronze medals for Iran.
