17th Asian Games
(2014 Incheon)
Iranian delegation participated in the event with 276 athletes and
was placed 5th place with 21 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze medals;
while such result is importance because of the following aspects:
1.
Except
for the Asian Games in Tehran, in which Iran won over 20 gold medals in 1974
thanks to hosting then event, it was the first time that Iran's sports delegation
won over 20 gold medals in the course of the 16t series of Asian games break
the record in winning medals after the glorious Islamic Revolution.
2.
Despite
the fact that the currency exchange rate and the inflationary costs incurred by
the sports delegation to the Incheon Asian Games in 2014 had been tripled over
the past four years in comparison to the 2010 Asian Games, following the
Supreme Leader's orders based on resistive economy and cost management,
officials The National Olympic Committee provided the preparations for this
competition at the same cost over the last four years (2010) during which the
quality of yielded medals had been better than the previous period.
3.
Attending
to and emphasizing on the statements of the Supreme Leader made the National
Olympic Committee to prepare a fully qualitative delegation with 90 athletes
less than the previous period to go to the Asian Games; despite which, more
medals were yielded in the event.
4.
The
Iranian female athletes, capably presenting with Islamic Hijab after the
glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution, despite all the limitations, won two
valuable gold medals and a total of 16 medals for the first time.
5.
In
course of Asian games, Iranian female athletes managed to compete in only two
to three finals but during this period, female athletes from Iran presented in
eight finals proceeded by winning medals which is promising for successful future
events.
6.
In
the past few games, Iran won medals only in 7 out of a total of 29 fields, but
in this course they won 11 out 22 presented fields, which was indicative of an
