NOC: In his opening speech Dr. Saeidlou extended gratitude towards head of the National Olympic Committee, the executive board, and members of the assembly.
He has stated that given the president's focus on issues related to sports, the activities in this regard are not even comparable to those under previous administrations; however, people's expectations are much higher.
He insisted that nowadays "we are witnessing Iran's breakthroughs in different fields including politics, society and even space. Likewise, we should also do our best to progress in sports like other fields."
"Without having a scientific approach, sports will never reach anywhere," he added. "Sports is all a science and we will draw results by our persistence in it."
The vice president went on to underline the present potentials of sports in Iran and insisted that the nation in which space, biology and other economic developments are looked at differently when compared to many other countries in the world, sports can have a lot to say. We should always enjoy a podium in Asia and be able to have a say in the international arena."
Later in the assembly, Mohammad Aliabadi, head of the National Olympic Committee, said the assembly is held annually to assess the performance of the community over a year based on its memorandum of articles and future plans.
He insisted that the sessions of the community are held assiduously and "at least a session is held every week. This is almost two times more than before," he asserted.
"The National Olympic Committee has taken a distinctive approach towards making connections with different federations and in this regard has not worked were just like a bystander; rather it has communicated with different federations through six intermediary communities," he added.
Another speaker of the assembly was Bahram Afsharzadeh, secretary-general of NOC. He expounded on the one-year performance of different commissioners, communities and headquarters of Asian games, woman's sport and other affiliated organizations of the NOC.
He also went on to elaborate on the resolutions of the committee addressing the 2010 games of Guangzhou and 2012 London Olympic Games.
Finally, Gholam-Reza Ebrahimi, secretary-general of Iran's Paralympics, delivered a short report on the programs designed for the disabled.
