Matin Balsini, the only Iranian Swimmer in Tokyo2020 participated in 200m butterfly and registered a better national record.
Iran NOC; Tehran: On the third
day of the Tokyo Olympics, Matin Balsini competed in the first category with
swimmers from Jamaica, Slovakia, Thailand, Syria and the Seychelles, finishing
with a record of 1:59:97 better than the previous record; though he failed
proceeding to the semi-final. There were 38 athletes in the event, with 16
swimmers setting the best record and advancing to the semifinals. At the end of
this discipline, the Iranian representative was ranked 33rd. Balsini
went to the Olympics with a Universality quota. He won the best FINA Point in
the Serbian Olympic Qualifiers and left for Tokyo.
